We’re thrilled to welcome Pip Williams to Hobart for this extra special literary event.

The Bookbinder of Jericho is a story about knowledge – who makes it, who can access it, and what is lost when it is withheld. In this beautiful companion to the international bestseller The Dictionary of Lost Words, Williams explores another little-known slice of history seen through women’s eyes. Intelligent, thoughtful and rich with unforgettable characters this has been one of the bestselling novels of 2023.

Pip Williams was born in London, grew up in Sydney, and now lives in the Adelaide Hills.  She is the author of One Italian Summer, a memoir of her family’s travels in search of the good life, and The Dictionary of Lost Words, a novel based on her original research in the Oxford English Dictionary archives. It became an international bestseller in 2020. The Bookbinder of Jericho is her second novel, and again combines her talent for historical research and beautiful storytelling.

Pip will be in conversation with Karen Brooks, Tasmanian author of The Good Wife of Bath, The Escapades of Tribulation Johnston and more wonderful novels.

Join Pip and Karen at the Hobart Town Hall.
